Ja Morant Available — Shocker as Grizzlies Face 76ers Injury Test

The Memphis Grizzlies host the Philadelphia 76ers at the FedExForum on December 30, aiming to rebound after a 112-116 loss to the Washington Wizards. Ja Morant is available for the matchup, providing a major boost for Memphis after posting 21 points and seven assists in that defeat. Morant has played limited minutes while recovering from knee and ankle injuries and has missed 14 of 18 games since November 18; this season he’s averaging 17.9 points, 7.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 27.8 minutes across 16 games. The Grizzlies enter the contest 15-17 and ninth in the Western Conference, having won six of their last 10 games amid ongoing roster instability from injuries.

Memphis’s injury list remains extensive. Out are Brandon Clarke (calf), John Konchar (thumb surgery), Ty Jerome (calf), Scotty Pippen Jr. (toe), Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (right hamstring soreness) and Vince Williams Jr. (knee). Jock Landale is listed as questionable with a calf issue. With many rotational players sidelined, the Grizzlies will lean heavily on Jaren Jackson Jr., Santi Aldama and Morant to carry the load and stabilize the team’s offense and defense.

Philadelphia arrives having lost three straight and dealing with its own health concerns. Joel Embiid is listed as questionable with right ankle and right knee issues after missing the previous game against Oklahoma City. Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) and Trendon Watford (adductor) are out. If Embiid is unavailable, the Sixers are expected to split minutes between Andre Drummond and Adem Bona up front, while Tyrese Maxey and Paul George would assume larger scoring responsibilities and rookie VJ Edgecombe could see an expanded role.

Matchup implications are clear: Memphis needs a strong showing from Morant and Jackson Jr. to exploit Philadelphia’s recent struggles and injury uncertainty, while the Sixers must adapt quickly if Embiid is sidelined. Availability updates on Embiid and Memphis’s questionable players will shape rotations and could determine whether this game becomes a momentum-shifting result for either team as the calendar year closes.
